A U.S.-Chinese helicopter venture was announced.
The enterprise, the first of its kind in China, will start production in Canton next month, the New China News Agency said. Brandley Klark, general manager of the venture, said the new company would export 90% of its S-55 helicopters, which fly at up to 180 miles per hour and can be used in farming, offshore oil drilling and passenger transport. Partners in the joint venture are the Orlando (Fla.) Helicopter Co. and the Guangzhou No. 3 Machine Tool Factory.
