France has ordered an extra 1,800 police officers to Paris to counter new threats from a group that claimed responsibility for fatal bombings last year, the Interior Ministry said. A letter sent to two news agencies in the name of the Committee of Solidarity with Arab and Middle East Political Prisoners threatened a “hot” summer. Police said the handwriting is the same as in a letter sent by the same group before five bomb attacks last September that killed 11 people in Paris. The group is demanding that France release Lebanese guerrilla leader Georges Ibrahim Abdallah and two other jailed militants.
