El Segundo : Downtown Revitalization

El Segundo is one of five California cities selected by the state Department of Commerce to participate next year in California Main Street, a program aimed at helping communities revitalize their downtowns. The other four are Benicia, Hollister, San Jacinto and Tracy.
Under the three-year program, the state agency provides technical assistance and training to civic and business leaders in the designated cities on how to breathe new life into their central commercial districts. An agency spokesman said 21 cities applied for the program this year.
