North Carolinian Named Army’s Top Enlisted Man

WASHINGTON —
A North Carolina man with 28 years of active service has been selected to become the Army’s next top enlisted man, the Pentagon said Thursday. Command Sgt. Maj. Julius W. Gates will serve as the Army’s top sergeant major and senior adviser to the chief of staff in Washington on all matters involving enlisted personnel.
