Dual BIA Meetings Will Focus on Midyear Forecast

The state of real estate will be discussed at twin-bill meetings sponsored by the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California Tuesday and Wednesday in Beverly Hills and Anaheim, respectively.

Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy and Preston Martin, a governor of the Federal Reserve Board and its former vice chairman, will top the list of speakers at the Beverly Hilton on Tuesday, while James M. Cirona, president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, and Ray Watson, vice chairman of the Irvine Co., will head the speakers at the Anaheim Hilton program.

Billed as the “Midyear Real Estate Forecast,” each program will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m., according to Martin S. Stolzoff, conference chairman.

Tax structure, finance, development and marketing will be the main topics of the principal addresses and panel sessions.

Economic forecasts will be offered by Michael S. Salkin, vice president of First Interstate Bank’s real estate division, and David F. Seiders, chief economist and senior staff vice president of the National Assn. of Home Builders.

Joseph M. Knott, partner of the certified public accounting firm of Kenneth Leventhal & Co., will discuss the impact of tax reform and deal structuring.

Serving as moderators for respective panels on real estate finance, development and marketing will be Adrienne J. Dabah, of Tishman West Management Corp., Elizabeth G. Williams, who heads her own development firm, and Charles S. Dreyer, executive vice president of Dreyer & Young.
