Now that practically everyone but Topo Gigio has been signed up to fill in for her on Fox Broadcasting’s “The Late Show,” former host Joan Rivers will probably not be back to host the show, her publicist Richard Grant said Monday. “In my opinion, I think it is highly unlikely she will ever host ‘The Late Show,’ ” Grant said Monday after Fox announced its numerous replacements for Rivers. Meanwhile, the irrepressible host of NBC’s “Late Night,” former Carson sit-in David Letterman, said between show tapings Monday that he thought Rivers went about her earlier departure from “The Tonight Show” all wrong. “I just think she handled (the departure) in a graceless fashion,” Letterman said. “By suddenly turning on NBC and saying unpleasant things about Johnny and ‘The Tonight Show’ . . . I think there were going to be hard feelings regardless of how she handled it.”
