DANCE

Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

It didn’t seem to matter--to the Syracuse, N.Y., audiences or the New York state attorney general--that a male dance revue performing there was misrepresented as originating at Chippendales in West Los Angeles. Actually, the six men who danced before about 600 screaming women Monday night had either worked or been trained at Chippendales in the past but were not presently employed there, said Judith Bailey, senior consumer fraud representative. Added Bailey: “We’ve taken the position that (the show’s promoters) have been somewhat misleading.” She said one local promoter, Mark Graham of Bay City Productions of Erie, Pa., agreed to refund the $15 and $25 tickets of customers who choose to skip the show. But all the troupe’s shows were sold out anyway.
