Diplomat Charged With Selling Visas to Iranians
A diplomat who was recalled from the U.S. Embassy in Madrid has been named in an indictment stemming from an alleged scheme to sell false U.S. entry visas to Iranians living in Europe, officials said Wednesday.
The indictment charges that Bernard J. Fennell, former first secretary and consul in Madrid, conspired to sell the false visas. The indictment, which also named four Iranian nationals and naturalized U.S. citizen Harry Arjad, was returned by a federal grand jury in Miami and unsealed after Fennell’s arrest.
