Wilshire/Fairfax : LACMA to Display Russian Art

Share

An exhibition of 62 paintings by 19th-Century Russian artists will be on view at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 5905 Wilshire Blvd., from June 25 through Aug. 2.

The show of works from the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the State Russian Museum in Leningrad will be exhibited under patronage of the Soviet Embassy and the Soviet Ministry of Culture.

The show is part of an exchange in which American paintings from roughly the same era will be exhibited in the Soviet Union, officials said. This is the first exchange of works by Russian and American artists since a cultural agreement was signed by American and Russian representatives in Geneva in November, 1986, according to museum officials.
