Consolation for Valley Readers
Awhile ago the Times delivered in my area of Topanga switched from containing Westside coverage to Valley news. Several residents here were upset (I guess we have trouble identifying with the “Valley”).
Al Martinez’s column with its wit and focus on the microcosms of life, however, has however been one great consolation. We in Topanga especially commend his tongue-in-cheek article “Concrete in the Canyon” on the proposed $100-million Montevideo hotel-golf course-housing project in the scenic Santa Monica Mountains. We hope it opened more eyes to the negative consequences of such overdevelopment. Unfortunately, those of developer Christopher R. Wojciechowski’s ilk probably won’t even pick up on the column’s intented sarcasm.
