Don O. Mellon has been promoted to executive vice president of Daum/Johnstown American, San Diego. Formerly regional vice president, Mellon will have expanded responsibilites for the company’s California operations. The firm is a subsidiary of Johnstown American Companies.

Frederick M. Linton has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Smyth Companies, Mission Viejo. Linton will oversee the company and its subsidiaries in planning, organization, finance and strategy implementation. Linton previously operated two Los Angeles manufacturing concerns.

Jeff Painter has been named senior vice president and general manager of the Rancho California-based Golden State division of McKellar Development Group Inc. Painter will be responsible for new home projects. He previously served as sales and marketing manager for Barratt Homes.
