Forty-five percent of the 417 people who took the AIDS antibody test in San Francisco said they would not have done so if they had not been guaranteed anonymity, according to a UC San Francisco report. Another 29% said they were not certain whether they would have. The survey, made during March and April, was of consecutive patients at acquired immunity deficiency syndrome antibody test sites operated by the San Francisco Department of Public Health and UCSF’s AIDS Health Project.
