The Nation : Bishops Plan AIDS Study
The nation’s Roman Catholic bishops have formed a task force on AIDS to deal with the impact of the deadly disease on American Catholics and others and to propose responses the church might make, the bishops said. The task force will review statements and educational materials from local church sources at a meeting Monday in Chicago, the National Conference of Catholic Bishops said. Bishop William A. Hughes of Covington, Ky., will head the task force. A spokesman said the group will consider the disease and related issues of education in human sexuality, school-based health clinics and media treatment of AIDS.
