National Semi Reports a Profit

The first quarterly profit in more than two years has been posted by National Semiconductor Corp., one of the nation’s largest electronics companies, officials said Friday. But the company ended its fiscal year on May 31 with a net loss.

“But we are satisfied because this ended as a record sales year for us as well as a record in fourth-quarter sales,” said Roseann Clavelli, company spokeswoman.

Fourth-quarter net income totaled $8.1 million on revenue of $511.9 million, compared to a loss in the same quarter last year of $7.1 million on revenue of $397.8 million.
