Poor Lee Harvey Oswald. He had his moment in history--when he assassinated J.F.K.--and even a two-part docudrama in 1983 that ran three hours and 12 minutes, sans commercials.

But now KABC’s condensing his story to as little as 103 minutes-- including commercial spots--when it airs “Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald” Monday night at 9 (the length will depend on how long the preceding baseball game runs).

Director Don Corsini worried that some viewers might think only part I or II was airing. Not so: “We’ve taken from both parts and we’re attempting to depict the entire picture the best we can. We want to be fair to our audiences.”

Said Andres Chevez, KABC administrative film director: “Unless you’re intimately familiar with the film, you won’t really notice anything. We’ve gotten some bad raps in the past for our editing, but this time we believe we have kept the essence of the film and its story line intact.”
