SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain — An Italian freighter collided with a Cypriot cargo ship early Friday off the northern coast of Spain, but no one was injured, a Spanish radio station said.
The Spanish maritime radio network Onda Pesquera said it picked up distress signals from the Italian ship Freccia del Nord and the Cyprus-registered North Sea about 8 a.m. The accident occurred 80 miles north of Cabo Ortegal, a point off the northwestern region of Galicia.
The Italian freighter reported substantial damage but managed to steam under its own power into the Galician port of La Coruna for repairs, the radio said.
