Applied Data to Acquire Computer Systems Maker

Applied Data Communications said it has entered into an agreement to acquire Dateline Technology Inc., a privately held firm in Redmond, Wash., for an undisclosed amount of cash and convertible debt. Dateline designs, sells and services high-capacity, high-speed computer peripheral subsystems primarily for data storage and reported $4.2 million in sales for its 1987 fiscal year ended March 31. Applied Data, in Tustin, designs, sells and services floppy disk duplication equipment and disk drive test equipment. ADC expects to report sales of approximately $6 million for the fiscal year ending March 31.
