Police on Tuesday lifted some fingerprints from the interior of a wood-frame home that was the scene of a triple murder Monday night, but a spokesman said the case is “a real mystery.”

Authorities delayed announcing the cause of death of the three victims--two women and a man--pending autopsies, but said the bodies did have gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified Tuesday as Mary Lou Davila, 45, who was renting the house in the 500 block of East Sunkist Street, her roommate, Maria Flores, 26, and Francisco Delgado Ortiz, 26, a neighbor, according to police spokesman Lee Pearl.

Although the neighborhood has been the scene of gang activity, Pearl said investigators do not believe that the slayings are gang related and “no drugs or narcotics were found in the residence by our investigators.” He added that the relationship between Ortiz and the women is unknown.

“This case is going to be a real mystery,” Pearl said. “We really do not have much to go on at this time.”
