Compulsory British AIDS Tests Favored

BRISTOL, England —
The British Medical Assn. voted 183 to 140 Thursday in favor of allowing doctors to test for AIDS without patients’ consent.
Delegates to the annual medical convention cheered when Laurie Allan, a London hospital anesthetist, said doctors have the right to protect themselves and their families from the fatal acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
AIDS has killed 444 people in Britain.
