Stars & Stripes, apparently headed for a loss against the Japanese-registered Bengal, was helped by a lack of wind that forced the postponement of the first round of semifinal match races in the World 12-Meter Yachting Championships at Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

Breezes dropped to almost nothing after the starting gun. The first round has been rescheduled for Tuesday. The Bengal is the former Australia II.
