The Thai government has decided to allow Cambodian actor Dr. Haing Ngor, who won an Oscar for his performance in “The Killing Fields,” to proceed with his plan to set up a hospital for refugees near the border with his war-torn homeland. A Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman said Ngor would be allowed a one-year trial period to set up a hospital to train refugees as paramedics. Thai officials are studying details of Ngor’s project to see how Thailand might help, he added. There was no immediate word on when the project would start.
