Soaring Ray Injures Boy, 5

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —
A 5-year-old boy was in satisfactory condition Sunday after a ray estimated at 250 pounds soared from the water into a boat in the Gulf of Mexico, landing on top of him, officials said.
The spotted brown ray, member of a species of fish that propels itself through the water with large, wing-like fins, knocked Carlton Carroll against the deck of the boat Saturday.
