Rockwell International Corp.’s marine systems division in Anaheim has been awarded a $66-million contract to produce navigational equipment for 10 Trident nuclear submarines to be used by the United States and Britain.
The company said it also received $35 million in contracts to cover modification, repair and engineering and technical support for the Rockwell-designed systems, known as electrically suspended gyro navigators.
Under Rockwell’s contract with the Navy Strategic Systems Program Office, four navigational systems will be installed aboard British Tridents and the remaining six on U.S. submarines. Production of the systems is scheduled to be completed in 1990.
