North Cites ‘Tens of Thousands’ of Letters

WASHINGTON —
Lt. Col. Oliver L. North said Wednesday that he has received “tens of thousands” of messages of support from the American public.
Following his second day of testimony to the House and Senate committees investigating the Iran- contra scandal, North told reporters: “I’d like to thank the tens of thousands of American people who have communicated their support. . . . I am truly grateful and I appreciate your letters and your telegrams and your prayers. Please don’t stop.”
