A 14-year-old Carson boy suffered a serious hand injury when an explosive used by railroad personnel blew up while he was trying to convert it into a firecracker, sheriff’s deputies said. Jose Cerra was sitting on the porch of his parent’s home in the 22000 block of Calerik Road when the device blew up, tearing off the tips of two fingers on his left hand.
