China Floods Kill 56

BEIJING —
Floods in eastern China this month have killed 56 people and covered large tracts of rice fields, the Chinese press reported Thursday in the latest of many accounts of flooding throughout the country. Reports said four inches of rain had fallen in a week, flooding 8,400 houses and 960,000 acres of rice fields in Anhui province.
