RIGHT TO WHINE

Share

I am sick and tired of letter writers like Trish Bassett and David Lathrap (Calendar Letters, July 5) who call legitimate complaints “whining” and “groaning.” They are, in effect, telling us we have no right to complain. (And yet, what are they themselves doing?!)

Hey, we’re only complaining of those little inanities of life which can--and should--be changed. If this world can be made nicer, even in little ways, then why not?

This typical “America, love it or leave it” train of thinking (“. . . if you don’t like the ‘80s go into hiding . . .”) is responsible for so much of the *!?* (suitable 4-letter word) we have to put up with. Put plastic cream in your coffee, accept second-rate treatment in restaurants, talk out loud in theaters, drink poisoned Kool-Aid because you’re too nice to complain about the taste.
