Looking for a Few Good Men

I have two reponses to the controversial article “Lite Romance” ( June 14, by Paul Ciotti): Things have not changed much. In the ‘60s and ‘70s, the men did not want to marry any more than they do today. The phenomenon was blamed on the Pill and the resultant freedom to have fun without worry. Gone were the ways to say no and keep him interested.

The problem today is more related to the ladies’ attitudes, which can be changed. For example: Elin Guthrie’s complaint that she’s wearing $150 shoes, but won’t go out with a tow-truck driver. Maybe if she’d buy $40 shoes and date truck drivers, carpenters and mechanics, she’d have more evenings out.
