Japan’s trade surplus decreased 11% in June.
The decline from last year took the surplus to $6.61 billion, the second consecutive monthly decrease, the Finance Ministry said. But the country’s total trade surplus for the first six months of 1987 jumped to $40.13 billion from $34.24 billion in the same period last year. The June drop was largely due to a 20.3% rise in imports. Exports to the U.S., before season adjustments, dropped 2.4% from last year, mainly because of a 17.8% decline in auto exports.
