Semiconductor shipments rose strongly in June.

Reflecting high order rates in recent months, shipments (billings) of semiconductors to the U.S. market in June totaled $933.4 million, 18.2% higher than May and the highest since November, 1984, the Semiconductor Industry Assn. reported. The ratio of orders to shipments (book-to-bill ratio) was 1.17 in June, meaning that $1.17 in orders came in for each $1 in shipments. “The industry’s business indicators continue to show that a strong recovery is in progress,” SIA President Andrew A. Procassini said.
