Police combed the French countryside near the Spanish border for a suspected Basque separatist leader believed planning an attack on the Tour de France cycling race. Police said the man is believed to be Philippe Bidart, head of the French Basque separatist group Iparretarrak (Those of the North). The man escaped Saturday after two of his companions were arrested at a roadblock.
