Former Fullerton College Dean Ralph Richard Snyder, 79, Dies

Ralph Richard Snyder, a Fullerton College faculty member for 35 years, including 17 years as dean of admissions and records, died at his home in Fullerton Monday following a brief illness. He was 79.

Snyder joined the faculty of Fullerton Junior College, as it was then called, in 1935, and remained with that community college until his retirement in 1970. He began as a business instructor, later becoming chairman of the business division. He was dean of admissions and records in 1953-70.

A native of Colby, Kan., Snyder earned both his master’s degree in business administration and his teaching credential from USC.

He was a member of the Fullerton First United Methodist Church and the Fullerton Friends of Music, of which he was treasurer for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; a daughter, Carol Rust of Arroyo Grande; a son, Robert Snyder of Seal Beach; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a brother, Charles Henry Snyder of La Habra.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
