Romanian swimmer Noemi Lung won the women’s 800-meter freestyle to claim her fifth gold medal at the World University Games in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, and the Americans partially recovered from their previous poor showing by winning two golds.

Winning for the second-string U.S. swimming team was the men’s 800-meter freestyle relay unit and Ann Drolsom in the women’s 50-meter freestyle.

Drolsom’s victory was only the second individual swimming gold medal for the Americans. The remaining four U.S. victories have been in relay events.
