Georgia-Pacific recorded a 72% increase in second-quarter income. The results were boosted by the Atlanta-based firm’s sale of its interest in Georgia Gulf Corp. Sales during the quarter were up 8%. The company credited a continued healthy demand for forest products, as well as improved productivity and lower operating costs, for its strong performance.
