Hearing Is Recessed in Marine Guard Case
The pre-trial hearing for a former Marine embassy guard accused of perjury has recessed for two weeks, to allow both prosecution and defense additional time to prepare their cases.
Cpl. Robert J. Williams, 22, of New York, spent roughly eight hours behind closed doors on Monday as the Article 32 hearing opened at the Quantico, Va., Marine Base, according to Chief Warrant Officer Randy Gaddo, a Marine Corps spokesman.
Williams is charged with nine counts of making false statements and two counts of perjury in connection with the investigation of two other former Marine guards who worked at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow--Sgt. Clayton J. Lonetree and Cpl. Arnold Bracy.
