Trailer Truck Litters Highway With Nickels
Associated Press
MANKATO, Minn. —
A jackpot littered a highway bridge when a truck dumped its load--$84,000 in nickels.
But it was not a jackpot for long.
The rear unit of a double-bottom trailer truck spilled the coins Tuesday after the hitch between the trailers broke, authorities said.
Department of Transportation workers and law enforcement officers helped to gather the coins, recovering $59,400 in intact containers and scooping the rest into sandbags.
