The Army lifted a three-month-old safety order that had beached its Bradley Fighting Vehicles. Army units around the world were told they were free to resume amphibious operations with Bradleys as long as a required safety modification had been completed and crews instructed in proper procedure. The Bradley is an armored, tracked vehicle that resembles a tank, designed to ford rivers or lakes by pulling up a rubberized canvas “skirt” around its hull. The Bradley was beached after seven documented sinkings, of which six were blamed on improper erection of the prow and skirt.
