Childhood Memories

Rather expectantly, I picked up “Life With Father” (by Mark Morrison, June 21), which dreamily began with a quote from Anjelica Huston: “It was a fairy-tale childhood”--describing the events of life with John Huston. Then, pow, I was struck in the sensibilities with her boast that at age 12, a fox cub’s entrails and blood were smeared all over her face. My, my, how adorable. I cannot interpret this kind of memory as a loving father-daughter encounter. I can think of a hundred entertainment industry fathers whose stories would have made your magazine’s readers happy to be alive, recalling happy times with Dad.
