The State : Torres Faces Drunk Count
Sen. Art Torres (D-Los Angeles) was arrested in Sacramento and charged with drunk driving, police reported. Officers said Torres’ state-leased luxury sedan narrowly missed plowing into a parked police car whose amber hazard lights were flashing. He stopped, paused briefly and drove haltingly around the patrol car and continued in a stop-and-go fashion, police reported. He was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test. Later, the lawmaker was released from jail on bond. He is the author of pending legislation that would suspend the driving privilege of anyone under 21 who violates alcohol or drug use laws.
