Argonaut Group said it got a second takeover offer from Clarendon Group, a privately held Bermuda company, which has offered to buy Argonaut for $52 per share. In April, Clarendon offered $37 per share, but was rejected. At that time, Clarendon owned 540,000 of Argonaut’s 11.7 million common shares. Argonaut, which sells workers’ compensation and property casualty insurance, was spun off last year by Teledyne.
