Israel Archeological Dig Halted

CAESAREA, Israel —
An American archeological team halted an excavation project today after a series of protests by ultra-Orthodox Jews who claimed that the digging desecrated an ancient Jewish cemetery.
Prof. Robert Bull, head of the excavation team, denied that there were graves at the site but said he was ordered to stop digging--on threat of being fired--by Paul Hardin, president of Drew University in Madison, N.J.
