Britain, Hong Kong to Resume Defense Talks

HONG KONG —
Britain and Hong Kong will resume talks here today on sharing the cost of defending the British colony until it reverts to Chinese rule in 1997.
A government spokesman said the talks will also cover the gradual withdrawal of the 9,000-man British garrison over the next decade.
