“Fast Times at Ridgemont High” is, without question, one of my favorite films. So what a thrill it was to read that CBS was going to air it on July 7. In earnest, I tuned in to a program that merely resembled the classic that I enjoyed so many times before. Sure, all of the characters were the same, but many of the scenes and lines that made the movie the classic it is were either completely omitted, or dubbed over with trite and contrived dialogue. What was left of the movie was only enough to leave me with the bitter rhetorical question of “If they can’t show a movie in its ‘natural state,’ why bother showing it?!”
