“The Crimson Pirate.” Warner. $19.95. Errol Flynn and Doug Fairbanks Sr. were the movies’ most famous swashbucklers, but in terms of acting talent, acrobatics or sheer athleticism, neither had the edge on the young Burt Lancaster--whose pantherish vitality and barracuda smile had less of a showcase, since the genre was collapsing by the time he became a major star. Not, though--happily--before he made “The Crimson Pirate” at 39, teaming up with his ex-circus partner, Nick Cravat, to sail, swash, buckle, yardarm, keelhaul, plank walk, seduce, double-cross and balloon-ride his way across the royal-blue Mediterranean. “The Crimson Pirate” is a real genre classic: Roman Polanski could have used a fraction of its tongue-in-cheek buoyancy when he made the more laborious “Pirates.” Information: (818) 954-6000. ****
