Printronix Inc. Reports Loss of $1.5 Million, Predicts Upswing

Printronix Inc. of Irvine reported a net loss of $1.5 million for its fiscal 1988 first quarter, compared with earnings of $1.8 million for the same period a year ago. Sales for the three months ended June 26 were $27.5 million, down 8% from $30 million a year earlier.

The manufacturer of computer printers said the loss reflects the continuation of a two-year slump caused by depressed markets for Printronix’s products and problems associated with two acquisitions.

Senior Vice President Dave Mayne said the company hopes to return to profitability in three to six months.
