Mary Schmidt Campbell, director of the Studio Museum in Harlem, will assume the post of New York City’s commissioner of cultural affairs, Mayor Ed Koch announced Tuesday. Campbell succeeds Bess Myerson, who resigned last April after a specially commissioned mayoral report disclosed that she had given a job to the daughter of the judge presiding over the divorce case of a boyfriend, and had her employees perform personal tasks for her.
