Views on Growth

Share

Mr. Kilkenny is right to suggest we “Think Twice About Limiting Growth” . . . maybe even three times.

First, think about growth while you are driving in stop-and-go freeway traffic on a smoggy day, then searching for a non-existent empty parking space near a crowded recreational area that was restricted due to a recent spill of sewage.

Second, think about the fact that housing costs will rise, unemployment will still be a problem and government services will continue to decline--with or without a restriction on growth.

Third, think about the well-paid Mr. Kilkenny, who speaks for the vested interests of the Building Industry Assn./Construction Industry Federation and ask who should be believed on this issue.

Which do you choose: a liveable, slow-growth San Diego or a Los Angeles-style, pro-growth San Developer?
