The Federal Trade Commission closed its investigation of Chrysler Corp.’s planned $2-billion acquisition of American Motors Corp. The move allows the deal to be completed after a vote by AMC stockholders, who are expected to overwhelmingly approve the deal today. However, the final step could be slowed by a group of dissident AMC shareholders who oppose the takeover and this week sued to block the takeover vote. The suit by the Shareholders Committee for an Independent American Motors Corp. alleges that AMC failed to disclose its true value.
