The cost of AIDS-related deaths to American life insurance companies from existing policies could reach $50 billion by the turn of the century, experts said as they released the first major study of the disease’s effect on the industry. The study, commissioned by the 10,000-member Chicago-based Society of Actuaries, said AIDS-related deaths could account for more than 20% of the claims against some firms.
