GM Announces Rebates

General Motors Corp., which once swore off buyer incentives as too costly, announced today a widespread incentive program offering financing as low as 1.9% or rebates up to $1,000 on most 1987 models.

“We have not had a corporate-wide incentive program of this magnitude since the conclusion of the highly successful 2.9% (annual percentage rate) program in 1986 models, which ran from Aug. 28 to Oct. 8,” said C. N. Moore, GM vice president for customer sales and service.
